Traveling To Alberta

Our wedding is taking place at ‘Southern Alberta Bible Camp (SABC)’. The venue is an hour away from the closest city (Lethbridge) and 2.5 hours away from Calgary! So either Lethbridge or Calgary would be the cities you’d want to fly into. SABC is sort of in the middle of nowhere - keep this in mind as you’re planning your trip!

Public transport is not good/not an option in Canada. If you are over 25, we suggest you rent a car and carpool with people who are younger than 25.

Calgary

Calgary sits in the sunny eastern foothills of Canada’s Rocky Mountains, where the Bow and Elbow rivers meet. It is the major urban centre for the entire southern half of the province of Alberta, and is surrounded by an area of profound beauty with an unspoiled, resource-rich natural environment.

It's a pretty multicultural city, there are some cool places to visit around Calgary. Like Head Smashed in Buffalo Jump, Heritage Park Historical Village, Fort Calgary, Military Museum and other things like that! But the best thing to do in Calgary, is to go to Banff!

BANFF!!

Banff is a HUGE tourist attraction and there’s lots of places worth visiting! Some of my favourite “landscapes” and places that I’ve loved photographing at are:

  • Lake Moraine
  • Bow Summit/Peyto Lookout (there’s a bit of a walk to get to this lookout - around 15 mins).
  • Lake Louise
  • Lake Minnewaka

There’s also some great hikes around Banff - if you google “hikes around Banff” you’ll get lots of options and choices to choose from! The city of Banff is a really nice place for walks! It’s full of tourist shops, coffee + pastry shops, little tea stores, etc. Banff city has a “mini Switzerland” feel to it. Oooh, and Banff has Gondola + helicopter rides to the top of mountains that I’ve heard are really cool as well

Lethbridge!

This is the city we go to for large shopping trips for for movie dates etc. We have a whole list of out favourite restaurants (all real Canadian food):

Five Guys (Burgers)

Havie's favorite place to get a BLT burger. (Stephen always buys a bacon cheese burger) Try the cajun fries!!

Two Guy and a Pizza Place

AMAZING pizza! And they make a fantastic nacho platter.

Piggyback Poutinerie

Took havie here soon after she came to Canada, it has fantastic Canadian Poutine.

If you're there for a Sunday, we go to Evangelical Free Church of Lethbridge church at 6:00pm (they have morning services too)
